High Five

Maybe it's just but I think slogan is hilarious. Even if's a bad pun and like 10 months old.

What's Up Jesus

Maybe you've seen or maybe you haven't. It's GodMen. It's tacky. It's over the top. It's essentially the infusing of the all the fake ass masculine ideals one can think of with Christianity.

Brad Stine is the mouth piece of this movement and does a pretty good job of embodying it. On NPR I heard some pretty interesting sound bites. What comes to mind, "I want to be a Christian who can go out to the bar, get into a fight, and then go to church in the morning." This is what's the most prevalent in GodMen. "I'm not a pussy Christian!", seems like a the informal motto.

I'll commend these guys trying to address modern issues but they just misses the mark. Video screen showing motocross and guys bending metal during these conferences is just ridiculous. Another example this kind of thing is Porn and Pancakes. This program tries to tackle porn addiction and it's prevalence on the internet. This seems a lot more interesting is because it deals with real issues. As opposed with just wimpiness and the fact that church is boring.

Now I don't want to give off the impression that I'm Christian. What I am interested in is though is how church is modernizing itself. It seems like adopting a much more topical and that bringing in modern trends is very prevalent. I admire this but it seems very difficult. Walking the fine line of being cutting edge and being tacky is hard. Is it even possible?

New Year

I’ve never liked New Year’s resolutions. I’ve never wanted to ring in the New Year with a self improvement goal. I would much rather celebrate it with a weird list.

Here you go:

*Beat Link's Awakening

*Oxford American, gotta read that magazine

*What is that song where Bruce Springsteen howls a lot?

*The anthrax infected flee bomb that the Japanese developed during WWII, seriously who would make a bomb filled with flees?

*United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors. What's their deal?

*Where the hell is there to do in Omaha?

*What are some good blogs to read?

*I really want to see a floor plan of a Panopticon. If one even exists.

*What the hell is the 43 people or 43 places

*Want to learn more about the Halifax disaster? I also want to find out what is the worst natural disaster in US history.

*Find out more about Mel's Hole

*Why would a grown adult wear yellow tinted glasses?

*Find the perfect hat.

I'll be 14 forever

I saw the pilot for the show the Amazing Screw-On Head. It's AWESOME! Based on a comic of the comic of the same name by the creator of Hellboy. It features robots, vampires, zombies, and Abe Lincoln. It's a dark comedy and is pretty fun. It's got celeb voices too, I guess. Paul Giamatti and David Hyde Pierce blah blah blah. The beginning sequence with a werewolf fighting a giant flamethrower sets the tone pretty well.

SciFi is apparently flirting with the idea of airing the show but right they are trolling for feedback on whether it's worth it. I think in all honesty they plan on airing it anyway and this website stuff is an attempt to advertise virally or whatever you call it. I can't knock it cuz it worked on me.

Naps

I'll admit it. I love naps.

I take them often. In fact most days I take a nap. They used to be harmless but over the past couple of years they gotten out of control. I'll avoid doing things just so I can take a nap. This, as you can imagine, leads to a pretty boring life. Using the most productive hours of your day to sleep.

This past year I've been trying to fight back against the urge. I'm loosing though. I still take end up taking really long naps most days. I began a no nap policy earlier but it's hard to fight being tired. The cold turkey method didn't work. I've more trouble with this than I did with quiting smoking. Come about 3 pm I feel completely drained and stay that til like 8 pm. It sucks.

This summer I started a new program. The plan was to be as busy as possible. Basically I've tried to work on as many things as possible. This is shitty as well. Now feel tired and overloaded. My usual day consists of going to bed at 1 or 2 am and waking up at 6 am. My sleep requires me to sleep at two points during the day. It's gotta stop. I feel like put a half ass effort into everything I've worked on and helped out with.

P.S. I'm finally quiting my shitty photo lab job. I'm going to work at Western's communication department in fall and try and help out at the Moped Shop. Fuck Meijer. It become really unfair that taking time off is considered to much of a burden for my boss to handle. Anyways thats all for now.

Burger King Witch

Currently I'm working on audio documentary for a class. It's the final for the class and the clock is ticking.

So far this has been my favorite class I've taken in college. I'll admit that college really stresses me out. Really bad actually. I have bad tendency of feeling like I can't have any fun until all my work is done.

Anyways I'm on a about the paranormal. Originally it was just about ghosts but it seems the more I work on it that it is better if I broaden the topic. Today I interviewed a self proclaimed witch at a Burger King. We needed to meet somewhere and BK was her suggestion. It was strange because recording audio didn't work inside because there was to much background noise. So instead I interviewed her in my car. It was hot and cramped but we made the best of the situation.

I expected that Burger King would be too loud but couldn't think of any alternatives. The mic on the recorder is incredibly sensitive. I wonder how radio programs get clean audio situations. As far as I can tell is it's impossible and you have to have someone come to studio environment.
