What's Up Jesus

Maybe you've seen or maybe you haven't. It's GodMen. It's tacky. It's over the top. It's essentially the infusing of the all the fake ass masculine ideals one can think of with Christianity.

Brad Stine is the mouth piece of this movement and does a pretty good job of embodying it. On NPR I heard some pretty interesting sound bites. What comes to mind, "I want to be a Christian who can go out to the bar, get into a fight, and then go to church in the morning." This is what's the most prevalent in GodMen. "I'm not a pussy Christian!", seems like a the informal motto.

I'll commend these guys trying to address modern issues but they just misses the mark. Video screen showing motocross and guys bending metal during these conferences is just ridiculous. Another example this kind of thing is Porn and Pancakes. This program tries to tackle porn addiction and it's prevalence on the internet. This seems a lot more interesting is because it deals with real issues. As opposed with just wimpiness and the fact that church is boring.

Now I don't want to give off the impression that I'm Christian. What I am interested in is though is how church is modernizing itself. It seems like adopting a much more topical and that bringing in modern trends is very prevalent. I admire this but it seems very difficult. Walking the fine line of being cutting edge and being tacky is hard. Is it even possible?
